The Unicode standard includes a dedicated set of superscript and subscript characters — plus a full small caps alphabet — that most modern browsers and apps render correctly. Unlike CSS-based font sizing, these characters survive copy-paste across platforms, which is why they show up everywhere from Reddit comments to Discord server names.

This small text generator works by mapping each letter you type to its Unicode small-form equivalent. The superscript set (ᵃᵇᶜᵈᵉᶠᵍʰⁱʲᵏˡᵐⁿᵒᵖʳˢᵗᵘᵛʷˣʸᶻ) covers most lowercase letters plus numerals ⁰¹²³⁴⁵⁶⁷⁸⁹. Subscript (ₐₑₕᵢⱼₖₗₘₙₒₚᵣₛₜᵤᵥₓ) is smaller but has fewer characters. Small caps (ᴀʙᴄᴅᴇꜰɢʜɪᴊᴋʟᴍɴᴏᴘǫʀsᴛᴜᴠᴡxʏᴢ) hits a middle ground — it shrinks uppercase letters while keeping them legible.

A common gotcha: superscript q, subscript b, and a few other letters have no Unicode codepoint, so they fall back to the regular character. If the missing letters matter for your text, try the small caps variant instead — it covers more ground with fewer gaps. Each style has its own feel: superscript reads like a footnote or exponent, subscript sinks below the baseline like chemical formulas, and small caps looks quietly formal without being shouty.
