What is the Fraktur Font Generator?
Fraktur is a style of blackletter type that was the most widely used typeface in German-speaking countries from the 16th century through the mid-20th century. Its distinctive broken strokes, compressed proportions, and decorative flourishes make it instantly recognizable as "old world" lettering โ the kind you see on cathedral inscriptions, beer steins, and heavy metal album covers.
Unicode includes a dedicated Fraktur block (๐๐ โญ๐๐๐๐...) as part of the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols. Despite the mathematical origin, these are genuine blackletter shapes that closely match the historic typeface. The set covers all Latin letters with a complete uppercase and lowercase alphabet.
This generator supports fraktur text, plus fraktur numbers using a best-available mapping. Numbers do not have dedicated fraktur codepoints in Unicode, so they fall through to regular numerals โ a known limitation that affects all blackletter text generators.

Why do numbers not convert to fraktur?
Unicode does not have dedicated fraktur numerals โ the Mathematical Alphanumerics block only includes letters. Numbers fall through to regular digits, which may look out of place next to fraktur text. This is a Unicode limitation, not a tool bug.
What is the difference between fraktur and regular blackletter?
Fraktur is one specific style of blackletter, characterized by its broken strokes and compressed letter shapes. Other blackletter styles include Textura (Gutenberg's typeface) and Schwabacher (a rounder German blackletter).
