Whisper Font Generator

Whisper text is the typographic equivalent of lowering your voice — it is small, sits to the side, and carries an implicit "this is between us" quality. The Unicode characters that achieve this are the subscript and superscript sets. Subscript letters (ₐₑₕᵢⱼₖₗₘₙₒₚᵣₛₜᵤᵥₓ) sit below the baseline, as if the letters are sinking into a murmur. Superscript letters (ᵃᵇᶜᵈᵉᶠᵍʰⁱʲᵏˡᵐⁿᵒᵖʳˢᵗᵘᵛʷˣʸᶻ) hover above the baseline, like a quick aside that is barely audible.

Both sets visually contract the text — superscript letters shrink to about 60% of normal size, and subscript letters shrink while dropping below the line. In a block of normal-sized text, these characters read naturally as stage whispers or parenthetical muttering.

On social media, whisper text is often used for sarcastic asides, soft compliments, or conspiratorial jokes. The format works because the visual contrast with regular text mirrors the tonal contrast of a real whisper against normal speech.
